Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to pdfprivately ("we," "our," or "us"). By using our website and tools, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

pdfprivately provides free, privacy-first PDF tools that process entirely in your browser. We do not require accounts, do not upload your files to any server, and do not collect or store your documents.

2. No Account Required

pdfprivately does not require you to create an account, sign up, or provide any personal information to use our tools. All processing happens client-side, and we have no means of identifying individual users.

Because no account is required, there is no login system, no user database, and no way for us to associate tool usage with any individual person.

3. No File Uploads

All PDF processing is performed entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Our Content-Security-Policy headers include connect-src 'none', which blocks all outbound network requests that could transmit file data. You can verify this by checking your browser's Developer Tools Network tab while using any of our tools.

4. Use of Service

You agree to use pdfprivately for lawful purposes only. You may not use our tools to:

  • Process illegal or fraudulent documents
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
  • Distribute malware or malicious content
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disrupt the service

We reserve the right to block access to users who violate these terms, though our client-side architecture means we have limited visibility into individual usage.

5. Intellectual Property

The pdfprivately name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property. The source code is available as open source under the license specified in our GitHub repository.

Documents processed through our tools remain your property. We do not claim any ownership over your files or their content.

6. As-Is Software

pdfprivately is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

  • The tools will meet your specific requirements
  • The tools will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The results obtained from using the tools will be accurate or reliable
  • Any errors in the software will be corrected

Because all processing is client-side, the quality of results depends on your browser, device capabilities, and the PDF libraries used. Results may vary.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, pdfprivately and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our tools.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Loss of data or documents
  • Loss of profits or business opportunity
  • Corruption of PDF files
  • Damages resulting from reliance on tool output

Since we never receive or store your files, we cannot be held responsible for any data loss that occurs on your device. We recommend keeping backups of your original files before processing.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of pdfprivately after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

9. Contact
